HIR Bulbs

Alright, so who's running HIR bulbs here?

Pros ? Cons? Can you tell the difference over stock? Is it worth it for USDM CB7 headlights?

For those who do not know what it is:

Thanks.

HIRs are not "blue" headlights, but use a special IR coating to bounce heat back at the filament to make it burn hotter. Because it is recycling a bit of energy, HIRs burn at the same wattage as regular halogens. If you search this forum, I posted the idea of a GB for these a few months back which as more info and a number of links as well.

If you are after the lows (9006 replacements which are 9012/HIR2 in HIR terms), look up the closest John Deere dealership to you. I've purchased a pair of lows and I kid you not it was only $12 a bulb + tax. Make sure if you do this you give them part number "AH211917", otherwise they will have no idea what you are talking about,,,abd in case they ask what its for tell them its for either a 9000-series tractor or a combine. As for the highs (9005 replacements which are 9011/HIR1 in HIR terms) are available through both Daniel Stern Lighting and HIR_Headlights on eBay, but expect to pay $30 USD or so per bulb plus duty and taxes (and shipping).

For any naysayers out there...here is a thread on the JD lows being the same as what you will find on eBay:

I did read your GB post awhile ago conundrum. What have your experiences been with them really? What accord version do you run?
I believe the light output of these HIRS depends on which housings they are put in.

I called my local John Deere today and they said they have been back-ordered!!! Too many people demanding them now!
