Rotors ---> caliper ASAP

Postby 6genlive on May 10th, '10, 15:27

Essentially i will need more things, but for now im looking for:

98 accord 4cyl front rotors...would like them new...i heard OE repacement rotors are good but dont know where to find them...again dont want anything warping on me within a year i have sum new EBC greenstuff pads to go with them, so maybe there is a good combo for that...dont really wanna pay more then 50 a rotor but 50 being sumthing good (will pay moer depending on rotors)...seeing as i can get CT chit rotors for like 20-25 bucks each...let me know

Thanx

EDIT: Got the rotors...i need a front drivers side caliper for a 98 accord 4 cyl... ASAP please...thanx

From my experience even OEM rotors are prone to some minor warpage if your using performance pads and making hard stops. If you don't ever stop hard you should be fine but I have warped OEM rotors before. I have brembo sport rotors up front and have had them for 2 years now with hawk hps pads and no warpage at all. They where on the expensive side tho.

Powerslots are good, not sure how much they cost.

...Oh....make sure when installed the pads/rotors are bedded in properly. THIS IS SOOOOO IMPORTANT.

For stocks? Yyou can get performance ones for a similar price for sure...maybe even less?

If a used rotor is not warped it can be resurfaced easily and so all the crap left from the old pads will be gone and your new ones will have to be bedded in again. Nothing wrong with this, mechanics do it all the time. Just that with those pads and some real hard stopping I bet an oem rotor will warp a bit because it gets hotter. Nothing as crazy as my rear $15 rotors lol, my hawk pads really warped them :bangh: ....again.

just use OE replacement rotors and pads...become a member and get a discount from TORONTO HONDA

i would not use anything else but OEM unless you have a boosted engine that needs hardcore stopping

I used Hawk Performance Ceramic and Mountain Rotors up front.. and I think my front rotors are already warped after only 10-12 months! Cost me $100 each, which is cheaper than OEM but being made in Japan.. thought it would give me more life.

I bought some cheap Centric rotors for the rear for $100.00 (pair) off tirerack... just installed them... thought maybe my OE's were warped after 80k/5 years...

I went through front OE rotors and OE pads in about 25,000k... I do a lot of hard stops, and stop and go driving.

Do you guys notice Hawk pads eating rotors like this? Is it the pads or the rotors...I hate OE honda pads..

from my understanding the brembo blanks can withstand more abuse than the OEM rotors

for $68 shipped thats a pretty decent price, id jump on those esp if u say ur hard on the brakes at times

I am not sure how much stronger an OE replacement brembo blank will be since it's just made to the same specs, but I also wouldnt be surprised if it is stronger.

I do know for a fact that the brembo sport rotors are much stronger and are available in blank, c/d, or slotted. I have the c/d ones up front and I could not warp them if I tried. Very happy with them for 2 years and 50k now on the same hawk pads.

Great review, where'd you get them? I had the hardest time finding them for my TSX.. then you also have to worry about buying chinese made brembo's online.

Yeah it sure is. I looked at a few places and they are generally over $200 for a pair or brembo sports. I would get them blank or slotted if I bought them again tho. Thats just me.

I think powerslots might be cheaper and they are stronger than OE too.

Rotora also makes some nice rotors.

I spoke with a buddy who has "regular" brembo blanks on his H22A CD5 and he has never warped them.

Tirerack is fantastic to deal with. Took 3 days to get shipped to me by UPS. Tirerack includes all fees upfront (including duty and brokerage), so there is no surprise costs added. You just pay the exchange, and with the dollar the way it is right now.. there is none to speak of.
